SHOP THE LOOK
Chandelier | Chair | Blanket | Side Table | Rug | Donut Art | Gold Frame
Today's look is inspired by a badass woman who inspires me on screen and off: Mindy Kaling/Mindy Lahiri. I've been having a lot of fun re-watching old seasons of the Mindy Project lately, and the spunky, colorful style of the Mindy Project sets and costumes never fails to draw my eye. Salvador Perez (the costume designer) and Mindy Kaling did an amazing job making Mindy L's spaces fit her unique and dramatic personality. I admittedly have a little trouble separating Mindy Kaling from her character, Dr. Mindy Lahiri, because the reasons that I love each of them are the same. Both Mindys are powerful, intelligent women, who are committed to having career success without losing or hiding their personalities. I love that Mindy L. can transition from delivering babies and starting her own fertility clinic to sharing detailed insights on celebrity gossip with a donut (or two) in her hand, and I love Mindy K. for inventing this character. As a woman in the professional world, I find the Mindys truly inspiring. Sometimes it can be hard not to hide your personality in an effort to be perceived as more professional. The Mindys (along with many talented, unique, and vivacious women I work with) have taught me that being a professional and being a fun and bubbly young woman are not dichotomous characteristics. To some Mindy Lahiri may seem like just another ditsy girl, but to me she's an intelligent world-beater who was brave enough to never lose herself. You go, Mindy! Thanks for being a woman we can all look up to.

turquoise chandelier Inspired by the one in Mindy Lahiri's apartment.
donut art This is actually donut print wallpaper! Another great print from the ErinAnne Shop at Roostery.com. I love the bold pinks in this sugar-inspired wallpaper. While this print is probably too bold for a whole wall, it can be fun to bring in touches of a bold print by framing a smaller piece of wallpaper in a classic gold frame.
hot pink chair I've always dreamed of having a girly pink power chair, and this one is so affordable!
herringbone blanket Herringbone is a classic print whether it's done in tile, wood, or textiles. I absolutely love the pairing of pink, orange, and herringbone in this blanket -- Kate Spade knows how to bring feminine chic to a feminine favorite. Every girl know that there's no such thing as too many throw blankets!
rug Just like Mindy, this rug is not afraid to rock ALL THE COLORS.
green side table This table brings in some fun contrast, both in its bright color and distinctive geometric lines.
